19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.
He rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
